CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Alfredo Tolentino has proposed to revisit Pampanga Delta Development Project and its flood control component after several towns in the 4th District of Pampanga have been submerged to flood water.Tolentino pointed out that there is a need to conduct dialogues with the concerned residents regarding the possible revival of the project.
“May mga bahay na maaaring maapektuhan rito pero sa dapat itong pag aralan muli dahil narin sa malubhang pagbaha na naranasan hindi lamang ng mga bayan sa Pampanga kung maging ng Metro Manila,” Tolentino said.
Tolentino has stressed that the project could lessen the perennial flooding in many towns of Pampanga and other nearby provinces.
Typhoons have resulted to flooding and caused considerable damage to farming, fishing industry, public and private property.
The flood control project on the Pampanga River can be date back to 1939 which is intended to enhance flood control on the lower basin of the Pampanga River or Central Luzon .(Herbert P. Mapiles)
